A Thomas the Train Ballpit and a determined 5-year old

This past weekend, my mom and I drove down to Rancho Cucamunga to visit with my oldest nephew (Daniel's son) and his mom to take him his Christmas presents. We had a grea time. Mom got DJ a Thomas the Train ball pit that he wanted to play with right then and there. (She also got him some clothes, but would rather play with the Train.) The only down side to the ball pit was that it had to be blown up. DJ's mom, Stephanie, kept telling him that grandpa would take it to the gas station to blow it up and then he and his brother could play with it.

While the rest of us grown ups (me, mom, Stephanie and Steph's mom) kep talking, DJ and his little brother, Jameson open the box and started pulling everything out. The next thing we know, DJ, being the determined little boy that he is, started blowing the pit up by himself.

He blew, and he blew until he had the whole thing all blown up and he did it by himself!

He was soooo proud of himself. In the end, DJ and Jami had a fun time playing in the ball pit. I think mom did a great job of picking out his Christmas present this year

Susie Homemaker

Since Kevin won't let me have a Christmas tree in the house this year (we won't be home on Christmas Eve or Christmas day to enjoy it), I decided that I still wanted to have that Christmas tree smell around the house. So, I did the next best thing. I bought a real Christmas tree branch wreath and made my very first ever wreath...with the help of a store bought bow and glass ornaments. And the final outcome.....

Tada!!!!

I am now called Susie Homemaker by my family and friends once they have found out that I did this myself. I have no idea were this burst of energy is coming from!

What do you all think? Pretty impressive, huh!

A Work in Progress...

One of the things that I like to do to release some of my stress is to cross-stitch. I enjoy working on baby blankets have made one for two of my nephews and my godson in the past. They take FOREVER to do. Well, I've been working on one for a little less than a year. It's almost finished!

This is what the entire blanket looks like. As you can see, I've almost finished all of the animal squares and the outside border. All I have left is the top piece.

And here is a close up of one of the animal squares. I'll post of picture of the finished project when I get done!

A funny thing happened on the way to work this morning.....

Well, yesterday at work, I realized that we never received the Stipulation to Continue Trial back from an opposing party in a case. I had to tell Mike that the hearing we were trying to continue was still on calendar and he had a trial in Visalia at the same time. Well, he ended up asking me to appear for him in front of the judge and ask for a continuance. I said I would go and take care of it.

Well, I went home last night and told Kevin what had happened and what I had to do in the morning. He thought it was cool and that he was going to follow me to the court house and take pictures. I told him he couldn't do that because the court would not allow it. He just thought it was cool because it was the first time in my career that I was having to go before a judge and it might help prepare me for the future when I become an attorney.

So this morning I get up and get dressed for work. I had to wear something nice because I was going to court. (I normally go to wear in jeans and a nice button up shirt with tennis shoes...I know...I love my job!) So I get dressed in a nice skirt and purple blouse and knee high boots. I even put on make-up this morning (very rare for me).

Well, as I was leaving the house, Kevin grabbed my camera and started taking pictures of me leaving the house. When I asked him what he was doing, he told me that he was documenting my first appearance in front of a judge.

Well, here I am leaving the house for work. This is the picture Kevin just had to take before I left!

Vacation 2008

About two years ago, we heard that Yankee Stadium in New York City was being torn down and replaced by a brand new stadium. Upon hearing this news, the plans for our vacation were born. We both wanted to to see the House that Ruth built and be able to tell our chilren one day that their parents were there in its final week.
Well, apparently we became over ambious and planned a three week vacation that started in Boston and ended in Washington, D.C. and included six major league baseball games and a trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY.
Our first stop was Boston for four days, New York City for five days, Cooperstown for 2 1/2 days, Philadelphia for four days, a day in Baltimore and five days in D.C. with travel days in between each city. We took a red-eye flight to Boston, traveled the east coast by train and flew from D.C. to Oakland with a layover in Salt Lake City.
Despite the fact that we both literally walked through a pair of sneakers and nearly exhausted ourselves, we had an awesome trip and are already planning on going back to spend more time in the cities.
Look for more postings and pictures about each city stop we had and all of the funny mishaps that happened.

Welcome!

Well...I guess we finally did it. We have finally decided to create a blog to keep all of our family and friends posted on the happenings in our lovely world. I have enjoyed reading the blogs of a couple of friends and decided it was time. Shortly...when I have some spare time...I will post a blog of our recent vacation with some of the wonderful pictures we took. We plan to keep you updated on all the happenings in the Rainwater-Westbrook families, so please, keep checking back and feel free to contact us if you wish.

Lots of love and best wishes!
